If you are the
first one to receive water, open your property valves prior to the time
MWD delivers water to our area. Then assure all valves on Glendale are
properly set to divert water to your property. The water flow may be
low until fill up (approximately 20 minutes, which the Association
pays). Irrigation times are scheduled to run from North to South with
185th West first. If you are first on your line, open your
valves and then set the valves to divert water to your line.
When your
scheduled time is complete, be sure the next irrigator is in the process
of opening their valves. If not, either call them or turn their water
on and then turn yours off. By not following this procedure, pressure
builds up on the lines and causes a valve blow out at the end of the
line. This is important! Always turn on before the irrigator ahead of
you turns off.
When closing
your valves, tighten the cap firmly by hand, do not exert extra force.
If there is a small leak, check it again in a few hours. If it
continues to leak, please report it to the Association Secretary or
Water Master.
Sign-up for
water anytime before 6 p.m. on Sunday to request water for the next
schedule. Water is ordered bi-weekly. Sign-up forms are available at
the bulletin board located on Maryland.
Irrigation times
are posted on the bulletin board and the website on Wednesday morning.
Water starts on Thursday, so be sure to check the schedule by Wednesday
evening.
Once the water
order has been placed with MWD, it cannot be cancelled or changed. If
you find you have ordered too much or for some reason cannot take your
water, you need to make arrangements with a neighbor. You are still
responsible during your scheduled time.
Do not leave
your valves open when not receiving water. This drains the lines and
can cause damage to the system and collapse the pipes.
Irrigation begins on West 183rd,
moves to East 185th, and ends on West 185th.
